• The provider picks it up and takes the debris to a landfill or recycling facility

What you usually cannot put in a dumpster

Paint, solvents, oils, tires, batteries, propane tanks, asbestos and other hazardous materials are generally not allowed. Rules differ by provider and area, so ask when you book.

Do I need a permit?

If the dumpster sits on your own driveway, usually not. Placing it on a public street or sidewalk often requires a city permit. Your provider can tell you what applies at your address.
